Developing a Predictive Model for Estimation of MPCE (Monthly Per Capita Consumption Expenditure) Using HCES Survey Data - Build a model to estimate household consumption expenditure based on survey data and to Enable faster and more frequent insights into consumption patterns. AI-Enabled Intelligent Search Solution for Documents to Develop an AI-powered system to efficiently search and retrieve relevant information from MoSPI’s extensive database and other government documents.

  • The hackathon will focus on two key problem statements:

    1) Development of an AI/Ml based predictive model for estimation of Monthly Per Capita Expenditure (MPCE).
    2) Improving Field Survey Accuracy and Efficiency with an AI-Based Classification Tool
    3) Manual Search within the Document impacts overall efficiency of operations of MoSPI
  • The Hakathon primarily focuses on Developing AI/ML-based predictive models and solutions for socio-economic challenges; Bring awareness about MoSPI’s available resources and their applications; Promote the use of government data in research, policy-making, and industry applications.

    The hackathon is open to students currently enrolled in any academic program at a University/Institute in India. Additionally, recent graduates who completed their studies in 2024 or later are eligible to participate.

    Registration details will be provided on the hackathon website https://iieciitgn.com/hackthefuture or through official communication channels. Participants typically need to fill out a registration form and agree to the terms and conditions.

    During the in-person phase of the Hackathon, participants will be offered a dedicated workspace equipped with internet connectivity. They will have access to publicly available open-source databases, and organizers will facilitate access to additional data resources through partnerships with organizations. Technical support, mentorship, and workshops will be provided to assist participants throughout the event. Basic stationery and software tools may also be available, subject to availability.

    Yes, the hackathon will have specific problem statements related to Developing a Predictive Model for Estimation of MPCE (Monthly Per Capita Consumption Expenditure) Using HCES Survey Data; and AI-Enabled Intelligent Search Solution for Documents. Participants can choose to address one or multiple challenges.

    You can apply as a team of five participants or as individuals. For individual participants, teams will be curated by the organizers from the pool of registered individuals. A fixed number of participants will be selected, and teams of 4-5 individuals will be created from the shortlisted candidates. The selection process will prioritize diversity in skills, experience, and backgrounds to foster well-rounded teams capable of addressing the challenges effectively.

    Participants are free to use any programming languages, technologies, or frameworks suitable for their projects. The goal is to create innovative solutions using the best tools available.

    Yes, prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, as determined by the jury. The prize structure is as follows:
  • First Place: ₹2,50,000
  • Second Place: ₹1,50,000
  • Third Place: ₹1,00,000
  • The prize money will be transferred to the team leader of the winning team, who will then distribute it equally among the other team members. This distribution will be facilitated through bank transfer. Please note that taxes will be deducted as per applicable regulations.
