This hackathon presents a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to showcase their innovation and problem-solving skills in the field of sustainable transportation. From February 7 to February 25, interested individuals can apply to participate. Shortlisted candidates will be notified on February 27, and teams will be formed and notified of their participation on February 29. Teams will then have until March 6 to submit their concept notes.

The current transportation landscape is riddled with challenges, from carbon emissions and traffic congestion to limited access in rural areas and inefficient infrastructure. Traditional modes of transportation, predominantly reliant on fossil fuels, exacerbate climate change and pose significant health risks to populations worldwide. Moreover, the global population is projected to reach unprecedented levels, exacerbating the strain on existing transportation systems. The need of the hour is to develop innovative, sustainable solutions that address these challenges head-on, paving the way for a future where transportation is efficient, equitable, and environmentally responsible.

    The hackathon primarily focuses on addressing challenges in transportation systems, traffic congestion reduction, safety innovations, and enhancing public transport efficiency.

    The hackathon is open to students currently enrolled in any academic program at a University/Institute in India or Japan. Additionally, recent graduates who completed their studies in 2023 or later are eligible to participate.

    Registration details will be provided on the hackathon website https://iieciitgn.com/hackthefuture or through official communication channels. Participants typically need to fill out a registration form and agree to the terms and conditions.

    During the in-person phase of the Hackathon, participants will be offered a dedicated workspace equipped with internet connectivity. They will have access to publicly available open-source databases, and organizers will facilitate access to additional data resources through partnerships with organizations. Technical support, mentorship, and workshops will be provided to assist participants throughout the event. Basic stationery and software tools may also be available, subject to availability.

    Teams will be curated by the organizers from the pool of registered individuals. A fixed number of participants will be selected, and teams of 4-5 individuals will be created from the shortlisted candidates. The selection process will prioritize diversity in skills, experience, and backgrounds to foster well-rounded teams capable of addressing the challenges effectively.

    Yes, the hackathon will have specific problem statements related to smart transportation systems, traffic congestion reduction, safety innovations, public transport efficiency, and more. Participants can choose to address one or multiple challenges.

    Participants will register individually for the hackathon. However, teams will be formed by the organizers from the pool of shortlisted participants. Each team will consist of 4-5 individuals selected based on a diverse range of skills and experiences. This approach encourages collaboration and ensures that each team is well-equipped to tackle the challenges effectively

    Participants are free to use any programming languages, technologies, or frameworks suitable for their projects. The goal is to create innovative solutions using the best tools available

    Yes, prizes will be awarded to the top three teams, as determined by the jury. The prize structure is as follows:
  • First Place: ₹3,00,000
  • Second Place: ₹1,50,000
  • Third Place: ₹50,000
  • The prize money will be transferred to the team leader of the winning team, who will then distribute it equally among the other team members. This distribution will be facilitated through bank transfer. Please note that taxes will be deducted as per applicable regulations.
